The Coalition of Private Schools in Ghana (COPSIG) has reinforced its commitment to improving health and wellbeing within school communities through a comprehensive and sustained health program.

As part of this initiative, the organization continues to roll out a series of preventive measures aimed at reducing the incidence of illness among school children, parents, teachers, and the broader community. Central to these efforts is a strong emphasis on improved sanitation practices, which COPSIG recognizes as a critical factor in maintaining good health and preventing disease outbreaks in schools.

One of the major highlights of the program is the renewal of health insurance coverage for beneficiaries. To date, COPSIG has successfully renewed health insurance for over 10,000 individuals, including students, parents, and teachers. This intervention ensures that members of the school community can access essential healthcare services without financial or logistical barriers when the need arises.

The organization underscores that access to healthcare is fundamental not only to safeguarding lives but also to enhancing productivity and educational outcomes. Healthy students are more likely to attend school regularly and perform better academically, while healthy teachers and parents are better positioned to support learning and contribute meaningfully to community development.

COPSIG maintains that its ongoing health interventions—particularly in the areas of sanitation and healthcare accessibility—are vital to building resilient, safe, and healthy school environments across Ghana. Through these efforts, the coalition continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening the foundation of education by prioritizing the health of all stakeholders involved.
